Education

ESOL Program

We teach English classes to immigrants and refugees and help advocate for their needs as well as assist them with navigating all areas of daily life.

  • # of people served: 100-120 per year
  • How often it runs: Mornings, Monday through Thursday, September to June
  • Location: 40 Clifford Street (Jubilee House)

Introduction to Citizenship Class

Students learn about the N-400 application and the oral interview needed to become a naturalized citizen of the US. They study the 100 history and civics questions needed to pass the interview, as well as practice the reading and writing requirements.

  • Location: 40 Clifford Street (Jubilee House)

Summer Conversation Classes

Students keep up their English skills playing games and conversing in English, while focusing on different themes, concepts, and vocabulary.

Beginning Writing Class

Class focuses on finding comfort in routine communications such as emails, notes for school, text messages, thank you letters, etc.

  • How often it runs: 6-week session, 2 days per week, during summer
  • Location: 40 Clifford Street (Jubilee House)

GED/ABE (Adult Basic Education) Tutoring Program

Tutoring program helps women with basic money, math, and reading comprehension skills.

  • # of people served: 5-8
  • How often it runs: 12-2pm, Monday through Friday, throughout school year
  • Location: 40 Clifford Street (Jubilee House)

 Computer Literacy Tutoring

Teaches basic computer literacy to people

  • # of people served: 12-15 per year
  • How often it runs: 1-2 hours, Monday through Friday, throughout the year
  • Location: 40 Clifford Street (Jubilee House)

Mom’s English Club

Program helps moms and their preschool children (ages 2-4 years) learn English through activities they would do together, including reading stories, learning songs, doing crafts, etc.

  • # of people served: 3 moms and their kids per year
  • How often it runs: 1 hour, Friday mornings throughout the year
  • Location: 40 Clifford Street (Jubilee House)
