Transitional Living Facilities
The House of Bread has operated a men’s transitional living building at 23 Lincoln Street in Hartford since 1988. A multi-family structure, this group living community can accommodate up to nine men in three residential units.
This building provides safe, comfortable, and affordable temporary housing for men in substance recovery programs who seek to stabilize their lives on the way to living independently. Residents may remain in the building for up to two years.
Affordable Housing
In 1992, the House of Bread built and opened the Ed O’Neil House at 107 Albany Avenue in Hartford.
Named for Cornelius Edward “Ed” O’Neil, a former House of Bread Board member and longtime volunteer, the building offers 27 units of affordable housing for the working poor and individuals transitioning into permanent homes.
The O’Neil House includes one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments.
