Transitional Living Facility
Clark and Lincoln
Streets, Hartford |
The House of Bread residence opened its doors in January, 1985 to
provide affordable, stable and supportive housing to men who are
homeless and need to stabilize their lives. Transitional housing
provides food and shelter while preparing residents to become
competitive job seekers and eventually to manage their lives in
order to live independently.
Beginning in 1988 The House of Bread renovated two buildings on
Lincoln Street in order to provide safe, decent and affordable
housing to additional men and to women who are in substance recovery
programs. These transitional facilities are home to nine men and
seven women. Each house has an alcohol/drug counselor as a house
manager who encourages independent living. Each resident must make a
commitment to remain connected with support services while in
residence.
