Soup Kitchen 27 Chestnut Street, Hartford The House of Bread Soup Kitchen was established on February 4, 1980. Our mission was to alleviate hunger among indigents, transients and low-income people in the north Hartford area. We continue to serve approximately 300 meals daily; 1500 weekly. Volunteers are very important component of the soup kitchen operation.
