We serve more than just soup.
Food, shelter, housing and education with
compassion, dignity and respect.

The House of Bread exists in order to provide urban ministry to the economically disadvantaged in the Hartford area.

Simplicity, dignity, and respect are to be characteristic of our services to the hungry, homeless and needy population.

In the beginning...
we served hot coffee and doughnuts from the back of a van.

Needs were met and people fed.

Over time, challenges surfaced... changes came about.

Today, The House of Bread provides a multitude of services to the greater Hartford Community.
