2006 H.O.M.E. GED Graduates Helping Our Mothers through Education was established in June 1990, to meet the needs of the growing number of mothers with children who live below the poverty level in Hartford. Mothers can enroll in basic skills to help build self-confidence and develop skills in parenting, health, nutrition, money management, smart shopping and education. Formal classes are offered in ESL (English as a Second Language) ABE/GED (Adult Basic Education & General Equivalency Diploma) and computer/keyboarding. A pre-school program is available to care for children while mothers are in class. After-school tutorial classes are held to enhance school programs. The H.O.M.E. Mentor program invites our children to participate in cultural and social experiences every other Saturday throughout the year. This program is possible through the efforts of volunteers from St. Patrick/ St. Anthony church in Hartford. ![]() |
